North Bay, ON – Recently, North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) unveiled the Gary Michael Jodouin Courtyard, recognizing the extraordinary generosity of MacKay Homes and celebrating the enduring legacy of Jodouin whose commitment to local healthcare continues to have an impact on our community.
MacKay Homes generously supported the purchase of an Orthopaedic Surgical Table System and essential surgical instrumentation, expanding the Health Centre’s ability to provide advanced orthopaedic care for patients across Northeastern Ontario. In recognition of this meaningful investment, MacKay Homes has chosen to name the A1/B1 Courtyard in honour of their late member and friend, Gary Jodouin.
“Today’s tribute recognizes honest work and achievement. This courtyard bears Gary’s name as a lasting reminder of his civic spirit. MacKay Homes is pleased to participate in this fitting and happy commemoration. We are proud to join the community in honouring a civic-minded man of distinction,” shared Nestor Prisco of MacKay Homes.
For more than two decades, Gary worked within, supported, and helped shape healthcare in North Bay. He served on the Boards of North Bay Civic Hospital, North Bay General Hospital, and North Bay Regional Health Centre, championing a strong, sustainable hospital for the community he loved. His dedication, leadership, and belief in exceptional healthcare close to home continue to have a lasting impact.
Gary’s connection to North Bay Regional Health Centre extended well beyond his volunteer leadership. This was a place he believed in, served, and supported throughout his life. Following his passing, family, friends, and colleagues honoured his memory through gifts to the Health Centre and recognition on the Celebrating Life Memorial Wall. The naming of the Gary Michael Jodouin Courtyard continues that tribute in a meaningful and lasting way.
Reflecting on the naming, Mrs. Jodouin said, “To have this space named in the hospital that Gary loved is so touching. He was proud of having a facility here in North Bay that is second to none. During the construction of the new Health Centre, he would come home with such excitement about what our community was building. Gary gave of himself in so many ways and this is one way that we can see that those gifts live on.”
The courtyard offers a welcoming outdoor therapeutic space where patients and visitors can pause, reflect, and enjoy the restorative benefits of fresh air and nature while remaining within the hospital environment. It is a fitting tribute to someone who dedicated so much of his life to strengthening healthcare for future generations.
