Danielle is a lawyer whose areas of practice include the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney, estate administration & guidance, residential and commercial real estate and commercial transactions.
The North Bay Regional Health Centre has played an important role in Danielleās life, and she is inspired to be able to assist the Foundation in helping our hospital deliver leading edge medical care to the community.
Danielle lives in the area with her husband and young son, is an avid hockey fan and player, and enjoys spending time exploring outdoors with her family.

Gail Thomsen

Born and bred in Toronto, Gail moved to North Bay in 1980. Gail and her husband bought Central Welding, Iron Works, which has remained family owned, and operated for over 40 years ā Gailās son and daughter are now at the helm.
āSeveral years ago, I was diagnosed with colon cancer and my journey with NBRHC began. A series of surgeries followed. Thankfully, the outcome was positive. I was introduced to the Foundation when I decided honour my caregivers (4 doctors and 2 nurses) with Golden Heart Awards through the Grateful Family Program. Without their care and expertise, I would not be here today.ā
Gailās philosophy is, āWhen someone does something nice for you, you should do something nice for them!ā
In addition to serving as a Trustee, you can find Gail volunteering in the Foundation Office every Tuesday. She and her family also participate in Our Hospital Walk/Run annually and she enjoys a great day at the Osprey Links Golf Tournament as a volunteer.
In her free time, Gail keeps busy with her 5 grandchildren and enjoys cooking, crafting and playing the piano.

Heather Krajci

Heather Krajci has operated self service car washes in the community for more than 12 years.
“After being diagnosed with breast cancer, I was incredibly grateful for the care I received from the doctors and staff at NBRHC.Ā It inspired me to be an ambassador for our hospital while helping ensure others receive the same excellent care close to home that I received.Ā As a mother of two boys, Ā Iām passionate about ensuring our hospital is a lifeline for our community for years to come.”
Heather loves spending time outdoors, fishing, hiking, and watching her boys play hockey on the ice.
Jamie Graham

Now retired, Jamie started his career in public accounting and practiced audit assurance, taxation, general consulting and worked as an IT specialist. He was a senior administrator at Nipissing University for over 24 years.
In his spare time, Jamie enjoys spending time with family, is an avid curler and a recreational soccer player.

Kim Kanmacher

Kim Kanmacher is an accomplished Senior Executive, President & CEO with over 30 yearsā experience in the Health & Wellness Charity/Not-for-Profit sector.
She is a proud donor, and passionate trustee about our hospital. She thrives on community building by identifying, engaging, and energizing key stakeholders.
As a Breast Cancer survivor, Kanmacher knows firsthand, how incredibly important, and timely it is to have the state-of-the-art equipment and health care professional expertise available close to home in our community, at our hospital always.
Kim has served the Rotary Club of North Bay for over 20 years. She is an advocate for children, youth and families and is the current President/Board Chair of the Nipissing, Parry Sound Childrenās Aid Society.
In her spare time, she loves to stay active, explore the great outdoors and spend time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.
Lauri Petz

Lauri is a retired banker who has lived in North Bay for 19 years. As a two-time cancer survivor, Lauri has developed a keen interest in helping cancer patients navigate our healthcare system by sharing her story and sitting on numerous committees at the local, regional and provincial level.
āNBRHC is important to me because I was a previous patient who received amazing care and admire the work our healthcare professionals do. I served on the NBRHC Board for 15 years gaining perspective on how we can always continue to improve patient care. I now serve as a Trustee with the Foundation because I our community plays a big role in ensuring the tools and resources at NBRHC are up to date and continue to meet the needs of the patients who use our hospital services, close to home.ā
Lauriās biggest passions are travel the world, visiting family in Saskatchewan and enjoying her home on the water.
Martin Hunka

Martin is professional accountant (CPA) who retired in 2021 after a 32 year career in Finance at Redpath Mining.
āThe hospital is important to me because I want my community to have the best health care possible close to home. That was one reason I joined the Foundation Board in 2015. Also, because a world class health care facility can be an important factor to attract professionals to our region and grow our city.ā
Martinās passions include spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, as well as enjoying the outdoors – hiking, camping, canoeing, tennis, and cross-country skiing.

As a Registered Dietitian with over 25 years experience, Tara works at the hospital and in the community.
āMy own personal health journey initially connected me to the Foundation. I continue to be an ambassador for the Foundation as I know the positive impact that exceptional health care, close to home can have on patients and their families, keeping them “together” during challenging times.ā
In her spare time, Tara enjoys cooking and spending time with friends and family exploring all of the outdoor activities that our beautiful area has to offer.
Walter Manitowabi

Walter Manitowabi was born and raised on the Wiikwemkoong Unceded First Nation on Manitoulin Island. He is from the Odawa Tribe and the Bear Clan family. His family has resided in North Bay since 2009 when Walter took on the role of Chief Executive Officer with the Anishinabek Nation. Since 2015, he has been self-employed as a Management Consultant as well as a Project Developer/Financier in renewable energy.
āI became a Trustee to give back to the community of North Bay that has been so good to me and family. In 2017, the Foundation launched the Cancer Care, Close to Home campaign, which was very dear to me. I had recently lost my oldest brother to cancer and I am certain, that if he had better services and medical care available to him, he would be still with us today. We must do everything we can to ensure that we all have the best care possible right here in our own community.ā
Walter is a proud family man, raising 5 children with his beautiful wife Marcia. Their kids keep them busy with hockey, softball, soccer and competitive dance. When possible, Walter likes to squeeze in a few games of golf.
