(Callander, ON) Over the past 28 years, the Osprey Links Charity Golf Gala has raised funds for important projects in our region, with almost $900,000 supporting our community’s greatest medical equipment needs at North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC). This year’s tournament, presented by Foraco, raised more than $96,000 towards an upgrade for diagnostic imaging.

This year’s tournament proceeds are supporting the purchase of an additional ultrasound machine and upgrades to x-ray and fluoroscopy at NBRHC. These investments will help strengthen diagnostic care for patients across our community. Thanks to the generosity of FDC Foundation, all funds raised at the 2026 Golf Gala could be tripled! Our community can help unlock a 2:1 matching donation of $1,000,000 by raising $500,000 before December 31.

Guest speaker, Melissa Macfie, Manager of diagnostic imaging, shared how imaging is an important first step for many patients in our community. “New equipment features improved software featuring artificial intelligence that can help enhance imaging, aiding the diagnostic process by providing cleaner and crisper images. Because of recent equipment upgrades, we are identifying potential cancers earlier and need to ensure we have the capacity to quickly biopsy patients so they can begin treatment as soon as possible. The addition of another ultrasound unit is essential in guiding our radiologists during biopsies.”

Matt Black, Commercial Manager, Foraco North America, remarked during the dinner, “We are proud to support a cause that has such a meaningful impact on our community.” Black shared his personal experience of family previously needing to travel for care that is now available locally. “I have an appreciation of how important these investments are, and the difference modern equipment makes for patients, healthcare providers and families throughout our region.”

Honorary Tournament Chair, Michael Harris, former Premier of Ontario said, “more than twenty-eight years ago, my friend Peter Minogue suggested the opening of Osprey Links Golf Course should be commemorated with hosting a charity golf tournament. Since then, more than $1M, has been raised by the Golf Gala and it has had a significant impact on many important causes for North Bay. Our hospital has always been one of our top priorities.”

My late father, Peter, believed deeply in the importance of helping others, and I’m proud that his legacy continues through the Golf Gala. Beyond the dollars, this event inspires our team and strengthens the resilience we need to keep showing up for our community.”
