[North Bay, June 2, 2026] – The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) Foundation is pleased to announce a transformational partnership with FDC Foundation, which has committed an initial investment of $500,000 toward critical Diagnostic Imaging priorities at NBRHC. In addition, FDC Foundation has committed a $1 million challenge gift for diagnostic imaging. Donations received by December 31st will be matched 2:1, with FDC Foundation’s $1 million contribution unlocked once $500,000 has been raised.
Every day at NBRHC, patients across Northeastern Ontario rely on timely, accurate diagnostic imaging to provide diagnosis, inform treatment, and support better outcomes close to home. Thanks to the generosity of FDC Foundation, community support for this essential care will now go even further.
“We are deeply grateful to FDC Foundation for their extraordinary leadership and generosity. Their commitment comes at a pivotal moment for our Diagnostic Imaging Department and creates an opportunity for every member of our community to be part of something transformational.” said Tammy Morison, President and CEO, NBRHC Foundation. “Together, we can strengthen diagnostic imaging at our hospital and ensure patients in our Northern communities continue to receive timely, high-quality healthcare, close to home.
This announcement builds upon recent advancements within the hospital’s Nuclear Medicine Department, including the installation of two advanced SPECT/CT systems already serving patients and improving care across the district and beyond.
The next phase of investment focuses on replacing and expanding core imaging technologies many patients depend on every day. Much of the current equipment was installed when the Health Centre opened in 2011 and is approaching the end of its serviceable life.
Priority projects include:
· Replacement of three x-ray units and two fluoroscopy systems;
· Acquisition of a mobile C-Arm to support care in surgery, Orthopaedic Clinic, and Emergency Department; and
· Addition of a new ultrasound unit to expand access to care.
“Investing in imaging upgrades isn’t just about technology,” said Dr. Jeff Hodge, Head of Service of Radiology, NBRHC. “It directly translates into improved diagnostic accuracy, procedural safety, and patient comfort – elements that our department strives to deliver daily.”
With the matching program in effect until December 31st, every donation will have three times the impact in supporting patient care. A gift of $100 becomes $300 toward funding advanced imaging equipment and technology to serve our community.
