(Callander, August 20, 2025) – Over the past 26 years, the Osprey Links Charity Golf Gala has raised funds for important projects in our region, with more than $700,000 supporting our community’s greatest medical equipment needs at North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC). This year’s tournament, presented by Foraco, raised more than $90,000 towards the purchase of transport ventilators.
Ventilators are a lifeline for patients who are unable to breathe on their own. Whether the cause is trauma, illness, surgery, or chronic disease, the need for mechanical breathing support spans all ages, from newborns to adults. At NBRHC, these machines are used across many units, including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Critical Care Unit, and Emergency Department, and are especially important when transporting patients to and from specialized facilities.
Guest speaker, Rhonda Contant, Coordinator in NBRHC’s Critical Care Unit and Cardiorespiratory, shared that a number of ventilators currently in use at NBRHC are aging beyond their intended service lifespan. “They require increasingly frequent maintenance, and in some cases, sourcing replacement components has become difficult, leading to longer downtimes. Current systems lack advanced functionality, such as adaptive ventilation (which automatically adjusts based on an individual patient’s needs) and lack the flexibility to be utilized anywhere in the hospital.”
“To ensure continuous, responsive care for patients across all ages and care settings, NBRHC will acquire five advanced, all-in-one transport ventilators to care for patients today and meet the evolving needs of our community in the future. The total cost of this project is estimated to be $272,500, which includes five ventilators priced at $51,500 each and $15,000 dedicated to training and implementation,” Contant added.
Robert Steadman, Vice President, Foraco North America, the presenting sponsor, along with his team members in attendance, helped get the day started during Opening Ceremonies. “We are proud that we can support this tournament as part of our commitment to being strong corporate citizens. Today is important to us because it strengthens healthcare in our community, and also brings people together for a meaningful cause. Partnering with Osprey Links and the NBRHC Foundation reflects our company’s values and our dedication to making a lasting difference.”
Honorary Tournament Chair, Michael Harris, former Premier of Ontario said, “Twenty-seven years, and more than $1M, the Golf Gala has had a significant impact on important causes that make North Bay and area an incredible place to live and play. The healthcare needs of the people in the region are always one of our top priorities and I look forward the years to come and what we can achieve together,” he shared.
Bradley Minogue, President, Osprey Links Golf Course, emphasized the impact of the Golf Gala. “This tournament has always been more than a day of golf for my family. It represents a tradition of giving back, one that my late father Peter cared deeply about. Carrying that legacy forward is a privilege, and I am honoured to continue supporting our community’s healthcare through this tournament. Each year, I am reminded of the impact my father’s vision has had, and of the difference we can make together,” he shared.
Tammy Morison, President & CEO, NBRHC Foundation, grateful for the success and support of the Golf Gala shared, “We extend our sincere appreciation to Osprey Links Golf Course and presenting sponsor Foraco for their leadership of this year’s tournament. Their support underscores a strong commitment to ensuring exceptional healthcare is available, close to home. This partnership ensures the continued success of the tournament and drives meaningful impact for the patients and families we serve. Healthcare is truly a partnership between our government, our hospital and most importantly, our community.”
