Emergency Department

When a medical emergency strikes, there’s no time to wait. In that moment, whether it’s a heart attack, a car accident, a mental health crisis, or a child with a high fever, you turn to your Emergency Department. It is the front door to care and it must always be ready.

NBRHC’s Emergency Department is under extraordinary pressure. We are proud to have remained open 24/7 while hospitals facing similar challenges have experienced temporary closures. But staying open is only part of the story, staying prepared, equipped, and safe is essential.

Transport Ventilators

Ventilators are a lifeline for patients who are unable to breathe on their own. Whether the cause is trauma, illness, surgery, or chronic disease, the need for mechanical breathing support spans all ages.

A number of ventilators currently in use at NBRHC are aging beyond their intended service lifespan, leading to longer downtimes.

To ensure continuous, responsive respiratory care for patients across all ages and care settings, NBRHC will acquire five (5) advanced, all-in-one transport ventilators that meet current clinical needs and align with future standards in care delivery.

Wander Management System

Our hospital’s current Wander Management System, designed to prevent unsafe wandering, has reached the end of its lifespan. A modern solution is needed to ensure safety, maintain dignity, and provide peace of mind to patients, their families, and NBRHC care teams.

A new Wander Management System will provide a secure, effective way to protect older adults. The advanced system is designed to descreetly monitor residents while allowing them to move freely within designated areas.

X-Ray and Fluoroscopy
To meet growing demand, NBRHC is upgrading five essential imaging spaces: three radiography (x-ray) and two fluoroscopy rooms. Our radiology team performs over 50,000 X-ray exams each year for the Emergency Department, inpatients, outpatient clinics, and community physicians.

Our fluoroscopy rooms, now more than 13 years in service, support essential procedures including PICC and central line insertions, barium studies, swallowing assessments, biopsies, and more.
The new systems and spaces, scheduled for completion by April 2027, will upgrade diagnostic capabilities, support advanced clinical procedures, optimize clinical workflow and enhance patient safety and comfort.
